Frederic Fol Leymarie (UK)

Prof. Frederic Fol Leymarie is a Computational Geometer and Computer Vision Scientist and has been a Professor of Computing at Goldsmiths, University of London, since 2004. Previously he was the manager and co-founder of the SHAPE laboratory at Brown University in the Engineering Division He was a holder of PhD fellowship from IBM Research Labs. Prior to being at Brown he was a research project manager in 3D GIS in France in Syseca (now Thales). His current research projects include: (i)The interactive visualisation of complex data with applications to biomolecular problems (projects: BioBlox, CSynth, FoldSynth), (ii) calligraphy understanding (the art of aesthetic writing) via movement science, machine learning and applied robotics (project AutoGraff).

He has published (over 70 articles and chapters) at international conferences (such as CVPR, SIGGRAPH, ICPR), in journals (such as IEEE PAMI, CVIU, Computer Graphics, Arts), in books (such as Aesthetic Computing, MIT Press) on topics ranging from computational geometry, to vision, graphics, and creative/intelligent machines and robots. He is also a graduate from Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, and McGill University (Centre for Intelligent Machines). He is also the co-founder and co-director of two companies DynAikon Ltd and London Geometry Ltd.
